Money Making Website

As simple as this may sound to those who have been on line for a while, I believe it is very easy to assume that everyone knows all the basics to starting up an online business or website. I really consider the definition of an online business in it’s most basic form, as simply a website that makes money. Whether you are selling a product, promoting a service or affiliate program, or simply building a weblog or website with content that interests you and adding advertising such as Adsense on it, this all constitutes as a ‘home business’ or ‘online business’.If you are new to the net, something as simple as setting up a weblog can truly be a daunting task. What is a weblog you ask?
A weblog or ‘blog’ is an online form of a ‘diary’ that you write all of your interests in. If you are visiting workathomecommunity.com, then you are visiting an actual live weblog. They are also good for posting articles of interest, that perhaps other writers have given you permission to use.
At any rate, not to get into boring details, as the title of this post says ‘brief’, here is a quick reference to how to do the basics:
Register your own domain name. You can do this at popular places such as enom.com or godaddy.com. It usually costs $7-9 per year depending on what you get.
Register for a hosting account. I recommend someone who uses what is called ‘Fantastico’. This is a really cool feature which allows push-button content set-ups such as wordpress (weblog set-up), phpbb2 (message boards) and other neat stuff. My host of choice is Hostgator.com.
Setup your weblog. Your host will let you know what DNS changes you need to make to your domain. Once your domain is active, you can go into Fantastico in your admin panel and setup your wordpress blog. There are lots of great resources to use. Just search the net for ‘Wordpress’.

  • Add your content. Whether it is your own articles, or stuff other bloggers have given you permission to use.

  • Go to Google adsense and apply for an account. Adsense offers you related ads that you can add to your weblog. When a visitor clicks on an add that he/she is interested in, you make money!

I hope this basic and brief article helps you in getting started in your own online business. This is really just the itty-bitty tip of the iceberg. As you become more seasoned and experienced with this sort of thing, you will see the vast opportunities that having a website or weblog online has to offer.
